Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion) Battery Chargers

What to look for

• Cell count and pack voltage. Li-Ion nominal voltage is 3.6–3.7V per cell; fully-charged is 4.20V. Match the charger to your pack's exact cell count — a mismatch either under-charges or damages cells.
• Charge current. Standard charge rate is 0.5C–1C. Fast-charge above 1C only if the cells and BMS are rated for it — otherwise you lose cycle life.
• Termination accuracy. Look for ±1% end-of-charge voltage tolerance. Cheap chargers drift by 2–3%, permanently reducing pack capacity over dozens of cycles.
• BMS compatibility. Most professional Li-Ion packs include a BMS that expects a well-behaved CC/CV source. Our chargers are designed to co-operate with, not fight, the pack's protection circuitry.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use a lead acid charger on a lithium-ion battery?

No. Lead acid chargers use higher absorption voltages and float indefinitely, which will over-charge a Li-Ion pack and can damage cells or trigger a BMS shutdown. Always use a charger designed for Li-Ion chemistry.

Can I leave a lithium-ion battery on the charger?

Yes with a proper Li-Ion charger — once the CC/CV profile terminates, the charger stops delivering current and will only top up if the pack self-discharges. Never leave a Li-Ion pack on a non-terminating charger.

How long does a lithium-ion battery take to charge?

At the standard 0.5C rate, a full charge from empty takes around 2–3 hours. Fast chargers rated for 1C complete a charge in around 1–1.5 hours if the pack and BMS support it.

What is the correct end-of-charge voltage for Li-Ion?

4.20V per cell (±0.05V) is the industry standard. Some long-life packs specify 4.10V to extend cycle life at the cost of ~10% capacity. Never exceed 4.25V per cell.

Do you supply chargers for LiFePO4 batteries?
